Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the efforts of the European Business Association in Vietnam (EuroCham) and the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam in coordination with ministries and sectors. , agencies and localities in Vietnam organized GEFE 2022 with the extremely topical topic “Green initiatives and solutions from Europe to Vietnam”.

The Prime Minister expressed his pleasure that the event had the participation of a large number of ministries, sectors, localities, businesses and international organizations, which is a testament to the interest and commitment of both Vietnam and Europe in the field of sustainable development issues.

Vietnam has approved the National Green Growth Strategy for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. Vietnam is one of the five countries that are heavily affected by climate change. Therefore, fighting climate change and green development is an objective requirement for Vietnam, for the sake of prosperity, prosperity and happiness for the people. Fighting climate change and green development is not a national job, but a global job, no country is left out, so we call for global solidarity and uphold multilateralism.

Fighting climate change, green development, circular economy, digital economy has an impact on the whole people, so it is necessary to have the cooperation of the whole people, taking the people as the center, as the subject. All policies must be people-oriented. And people must participate in policy formulation and policy implementation with the spirit of: People know, people discuss, people do, people monitor, people’s supervisor, people receive rewards.

The Prime Minister said that after 35 years of renovation, Vietnam has achieved great achievements of historical significance; The country has never had the opportunity, potential, position and international prestige as it does today. Vietnam has been actively building an independent and self-reliant economy, actively integrating into the world effectively, diversifying and multilateralizing, being a good friend, reliable partner, and responsible member of the international community. “Your presence here shows that very clearly,” the Prime Minister said.

After more than 2 years of fighting the epidemic, life has returned to normal. In the past 11 months, the economy and society have developed very positively. Macroeconomic stability, inflation under control, economic growth reached a high level. Affirming a strong commitment to sustainable development, not sacrificing the environment for economic growth, the Prime Minister said: It is evident that Vietnam has joined nearly 150 countries in committing to bring net emissions to ” 0” by mid-century; together with more than 100 countries participating in the Commitment to reduce global methane emissions by 2030; join 140 countries in the Glasgow Declaration of Leaders on Forests and Land Use; together with 48 countries participating in the Global Declaration on the transition of coal power to clean energy; together with 150 countries participating in the Global Adaptation Coalition.

The Prime Minister said that Vietnam is focusing on building three pillars: a socialist democracy, a socialist rule of law and a socialist-oriented market economy, complying with market rules and with state intervention when necessary to protect the legitimate rights and interests of people and businesses. In that process, people are the center, the subject, the force and the resource of development. Vietnam is promoting the signing of an Investment Protection Agreement, creating favorable conditions for businesses of both sides to expand investment; promote the establishment of the Fair Energy Transition Partnership of the G7 Group and Vietnam (JETP) on the basis of ensuring harmony of interests, fairness and justice in the transition process.

In front of a large number of leading European investors, the Prime Minister stated: We will continue to improve the investment environment, reduce input costs for businesses, encourage green economy, digital transformation, circular economy. Ensure political stability, social order and safety, promote public-private cooperation, diversify supply chains, diversify products and markets. Encourage innovation into emerging industries.
